L-bolt suits shallow embedment with moderate pull-out (90 degree leg, hook length 4 to 6 times shank diameter). J-bolt clears interference with rebar cages and shallow pours (hook radius 3 times shank diameter, J return 4 times shank diameter). Headed anchor (hex or square head on the embedded end) delivers the highest pull-out per inch of embedment because the head bears against concrete in pure compression. Swedged anchor (deformed shank profile rolled into the embedded length) develops bond along the full embedment with no end hook; specified where rebar interference rules out hook geometries. Mechanical floor across all four is identical (ASTM F468 Class A).

What is the standard length of a Monel 400 anchor bolt?

What is the minimum embedment depth for a Monel 400 anchor bolt in concrete?

Embedment depth is set by the structural designer using ACI 318 Chapter 17 (anchorage to concrete). Typical embedment for cast-in headed anchors ranges from 8 to 12 times the shank diameter, with the lower bound applicable to high-strength concrete and the upper bound applicable to edge or thin-slab conditions. Pull-out capacity is concrete-governed, not bolt-governed, because the F468 Class A tensile floor of 70 to 130 ksi exceeds the cone breakout capacity of most concrete embedments.

Is a Monel 400 anchor bolt weldable?

Yes for Class A (UNS N04400). Welding uses ERNiCu-7 filler per AWS A5.14. Common shop practice tack-welds an L-bolt or J-bolt to the rebar cage to control position during the concrete pour. Class B (UNS N04405, free-machining grade) carries 0.025 to 0.060 percent sulfur and is not recommended for welded joints.
