Supplied hot-worked or cold-worked, 6 mm to 200 mm diameter, 3 m to 6 m length, in as-worked, stress-relieved or annealed condition, with EN 10204 type 3.1 or 3.2 MTC. Feeds bolt, stud-bolt, anchor-bolt, threaded-rod and forging manufacture, plus HF alkylation pump shafts, valve stems and marine hardware. Chemistry matches B127 plate and B564 forgings; alloy is UNS N04400.     ASTM B164 Scope and Product Types for Monel 400 Round Bar

    ASTM B164 covers UNS N04400 (and free-machining UNS N04405) as rod, bar and cold-worked wire. Round product ships in three conditions: hot-worked, cold-worked (each as-worked or stress-relieved) and annealed. The standard also covers rings, disks and forging-quality material. Hot-worked bar is the default for large-diameter machined parts and feedstock for forged flanges to B564; cold-drawn stress-relieved bar ships for pump shafts and bolt blanks rolled to F468.

    PMI on every bar at receipt against MTC. Free-machining Monel R-405 (UNS N04405) at 0.025-0.060 percent S is bar only; not for sour service or HF acid.

    ASTM B164 Table 1 sets the floor. Annealed bar at 70 ksi (480 MPa) tensile, 25 ksi (170 MPa) yield, 35% elongation feeds bolt and machined-part manufacture; cold-worked stress-relieved bar at 84 to 110 ksi (580 to 760 MPa) tensile ships where higher yield is needed without re-heat-treatment.
