Monel 400 Flat Bar & Strip — UNS N04400
Monel 400 flat bar and strip (UNS N04400) is supplied to ASTM B127 (strip 0.025-0.250″) and ASTM B164 (flat bar >0.250″) for brackets, washer blanks, gasket reinforcement, electrical connectors, and downstream stamped or formed parts requiring HF, seawater, or reducing-acid corrosion resistance. TorqBolt stocks thicknesses 1/16″ (1.5mm) through 4″ (100mm), widths to 12″ (300mm), in random lengths to 6 m.

Strip vs flat bar — what's the difference?
Thickness threshold: 0.250″ (6mm). Below that ASTM calls it strip (B127); above is flat bar (B164). Strip is typically cold-rolled for tight tolerance; flat bar is hot-rolled then optionally finished.
Can flat bar be supplied with a polished finish?
Yes — #4 brush, #6 satin, #7 high-polish, or #8 mirror. Specify the architectural/aesthetic requirement; mirror finish doubles lead time.
What's the standard tolerance on cold-rolled strip thickness?
ASTM B127 specifies ±0.0015″ on strip < 0.050″ thickness and ±0.0025″ for 0.050-0.250″. Tighter tolerance available on request (±0.001″ precision strip).
Is Monel 400 flat bar suitable for explosion-cladding?
Yes — Monel 400 is a standard cladding for carbon steel substrates in HF-service vessels. Cladding thickness typically 3-6mm Monel on 12-50mm carbon steel base.
