Monel 400 square bar is wrought UNS N04400 stock in square cross-section, supplied for shaft keys, square-head bolt blanks, downstream machined fittings, and structural reinforcement in chemical-process equipment. TorqBolt supplies hot-rolled and cold-finished square bar to ASTM B164 in sizes 1/4″ through 4″ (6-100mm), random lengths 3-6 m. EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 certification supplied.

| 3/8 | 10 | ±0.005″ |
| 1/2 | 13 | ±0.006″ |

Chemistry per UNS N04400 (Ni 63+ / Cu 28-34). Annealed: tensile 70 ksi / 485 MPa min, yield 28 ksi / 195 MPa min, elongation 35% min. Full mechanical data.
In pumps and shafts running in seawater, chloride brines, or HF chemistry, conventional carbon-steel or stainless keys corrode and seize. Monel 400 keys remain free-moving and don't weld themselves to the shaft over time.
For machining downstream, cold-finished holds tighter tolerance and produces less swarf. For weld inserts or structural reinforcement, hot-rolled is adequate and cheaper.
Practical minimum is 1/4″ (6mm) cold-drawn. Below that, specify Monel 400 wire instead and machine the square form from round.
Usually not — square bar adds machining cost (cutting tools must shape four corners). Use round bar for circular features, square bar only when the cross-section itself is needed.
